Last week, I had the pleasure of giving a «Makeup for Mature Skin» Master Class at Make Up For Ever in Paris. I explained and showed to the audience of professional makeup artists the special techniques to be used on mature skin, and most importantly, which are the trends and products, which should better be left to young girls with baby skin. Here’s my checklist of the 7 most common makeup errors you will want to avoid in order not to emphasize your lines and wrinkles and take on
My personal favorites of this last Fashion Week I feel like just having caught my breath since last Fashion Week but in fact int’s already quite a while. Before they fade, I want to share my impressions with you and my favorite makeup trends for summer 2018. You’ll want to wear them right away… 😉 The ultra glossy is everywhere The greatest news for next summer is definitely the triumphant return of the gloss. Not only on lips, it was applied everywhere. Eyelids, cheekbones, temples were glowing and glistening.
My new video shows how you can cover redness and imperfections and still keep your makeup light and transparent Among all small imperfections, red spots, whether temporary or permanent, are the most common imperfections. In many cases the cause of redness is simply very transparent skin making small veins show through. Cold, heat, sun, wind, but also stress, alcohol and spicy food may also make veins expand and cause red spots. To keep them at bay avoid these triggering factors, but as well too frequent or too aggressive peelings, and
When it comes to mature eye makeup, “less is more” is the motto to follow, as we have seen already in the chapter dedicated to mature skin makeup. Keep it light, as far as the textures are concerned and the colours, but also your application techniques! Mature eye makeup: which colors are your best friends? With age, we feel more and more often rather like bringing out discreetly our assets and overplay the features we like less, instead of impressing with an artful makeup. Better forget about those rainbow
Definitely one of the questions most asked during my makeup classes is, what can makeup do for me when I’m 45+? Which products won’t look heavy? How to do an anti-aging makeup? Mature skin demands particular attention: small lines need to be hidden, brightness and glow are needed for youthfulness. In this video, I’ll show you step by step how to work your skin smooth and flawless, all in lightweight textures. The secret for flawless skin over 45: products which are efficient but ultra lighweight Moisturizing is key: mature skin
Lipstick: The comeback of a standard After a decade of gloss and barely there lip colour, good old creamy textured lipstick is back in business. Particularily in deeply saturated hues, for both a retro inspired look but also, coupled with very bare eyes, a highly modern take. A really nice selection of bright reds, oranges, corals but also rosewood pinks, for the less adventurous, can be found in the highly affordable line “L’Authentique” by Rouge Baiser (available in any decently stocked French supermarket). Probably one of the most long-lived
After a first article dedicated to my favorite foundation brushes, here now the second part of my little guide: concealer and powder brushes you won’t want to live without… 😉 The most underestimated makeup brush: the concealer brush Even if you prefer applying your foundation with your hands or the help of a Beauty Blender, perfect skin requires a concealer brush to correct imperfections and dark circles under your eyes. Personnally I prefer a round and pointed shape (like a crayon, actually, hence the name crayon brush) which gets easily
Why is it the best makeup remover (in my eyes)? Every makeup has to come off again, preferably effortless and without causing irritations or drying out sensitive skin. Free of soap and alcohol, Bioderma’s Créaline Eau Démaquillante has proven its efficiency, even under the most harsh fashion show conditions, where within a couple of hours a nude face might follow into a spraypainted look in all colours of the rainbow. Makeup artists know about the popularity of this favourite product and carefully name-label bottles.
One of my favourite primers is Lancôme Effet Miracle, which is real skin perfector. Why? Because it does so well what the job of a primer is: preparing the ground. Smoothening and polishing, it makes everything that may follow look better. A primer which has also a great effect worn on its own But what I like almost best is to use it on its own: its velvety texture beautifies and softens, pores appear smaller, small wrinkles are blurred. The perfect solution for anybody who feels foundation is too heavy
Dizzying curves all day… Always one of my favourite staples, I use eyelash curlers on almost everyone. They instantly “open” the eye, whichever mascara I’ll apply afterwards (never before or you risk breaking your lashes!). If you have naturally dark lashes you might not even want to put any mascara on, the curling adding already “expression”. How to choose your eyelash curler To get the full benefit you might want to choose the right curler for your eyes as there are quite some differences to sizes and shapes. A long
